Dent Zone International, Inc./PDR LINX SM
Joins SCRS as Corporate Member
Richland, WA, October
25, 2004 —
The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) is
pleased to announce its newest corporate member, Dent Zone
International, Inc. (DZII), a privately-held leader in the
paintless dent repair (PDR) industry. The Addison,
Texas-based company also certifies and administrates the
largest network of PDR technicians under the PDR LINXSM
banner, and processes PDR claims through one of the largest
Web-based applications of its type.
PDR is a process through
which minor dents are removed by using specially designed
tools to manipulate and flex the backside of the metal
without the need for sanding, priming and painting.
SCRS has been diligently
working to identify emerging partners and to create
alliances that can be of benefit to its collision repair
members. In years past, it would have been unlikely for a
PDR company to be invited into the SCRS family. But there is
no question that PDR has become viable and necessary for
collision repairers who wish to effectively serve the needs
of all customers.
“Traditionally, the
PDR industry has been looked upon with some suspicion by
collision repairers, in part, because it was viewed as
competition,” explains SCRS Chairman Lou DiLisio. “That
mindset has begun to change, though. Repairers now
understand that partnering with a PDR provider can result in
better customer service, and at the same time add a profit
center to the business.”
According to John
Cochran, Director of Sales and Marketing for Dent Zone
International/PDR LINX, this development is the result of an
evolving marketplace. “With the emphasis on faster cycle
times and decreased severity, the demand for PDR services
has grown within the industry,” he says. “Body shops may
not be set up to handle PDR, so instead of missing out on
possible revenues, they can outsource the work to someone in
our network and keep a percentage.”
DZII’s position in the
forefront of their industry is demonstrated by the stringent
certification requirements its alliance of close to 2,000
contracted technicians must meet. Furthermore, it has been
active in creating a standard price matrix for PDR and is
working with CIECA and industry information providers to
explore a unified set of PDR procedures.
“The collision repair
industry is undergoing significant change,” states DiLisio.
“It is imperative that we continue to look beyond the norm
to forge relationships that can help us cost-effectively
provide customers the best collision repair experience
possible. SCRS has pioneered relationships with parts
recyclers and the rental car industry. The time has come to
do the same with PDR. We look forward to working with Dent
Zone International, and are certain it will again illustrate
how ‘Working Together Is The Most Important Work We Do.’”
Through its direct
members and 29 affiliate associations, SCRS is comprised of
5,000 collision repair businesses and 58,500 specialized
professionals who work with consumers and insurance
companies to repair collision-damaged vehicles. Additional
